Little warrior Programme, Thursday's 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm

The littleLittle warrior warrior program is designed for children from the age of 4 years to 9 years of age who would love to get involved in martial arts but yet are a little young at this age. The syllabus involves a little fun and games and kicking and punching techniques coupled with discipline and an awareness of the world to-day. A very important emphasis is placed on making friends, teamwork and the serious issues regarding bullying in schools and on the streets .The Little Warrior program plays a huge part in the development of the students in terms of confidence and their ability to communicate with other children and examples are seen in the flesh at Turners Cross TaeKwon-Do Academy. We carry out a series of grading's which starts at white belt and works up to black tag when it is time to enter mainstream TaeKwon-Do and the junior class of Turners Cross Taekwon-Do Academy. Ken Leahy has completed the Irish Sports Council's awareness course for coaching minors , the Irish Sports Council's children's officer course and was the National Children's Officer for the I.N.T.A.

2010 Warrior Programmeo

Lots of children want to train in Tae Kwon-do because:-

  • 1.They are being bullied
  • 2.They have low self-esteem/confidence
  • 3.They have no confidence
  • 4.They are lacking in co-ordination/motor skills
  • 5.They find it hard to make friends

Our children's program will teach your child core values such as discipline and respect. By starting at an early age, they will develop positive habits to last a lifetime. We believe in bringing out the best in your child and have designed our classes to be entertaining and informative.

With training in Tae Kwon-do, the content of the classes and the way they are run, the children will develop:-

  • 1. Self confidence, self control, self esteem and self discipline
  • 2. Respect for adults and for each other
  • 3. The value of setting goals and working towards them
  • 4. Non-violent techniques in conflict-resolution
  • 5. How to overcome a bully or gang situation
  • 6. The Tae Kwon-do training will channel their energy into their Tae Kwon-do skills
  • 7. The way the intruction is given and broken down for the child, you will see a great improvement in a matter of weeks.
  • 8. The training in Tae Kwon-do promotes individual and group activities which will develop, (1) Communication skills, (2) Group interactions/activities.

Children who acquire self-confidence at an early age are far more likely to succeed in their adult ambitions. Tae Kwon-Do is arguably the best method of instilling confidence into children and at the same time emphasising the importance of respect and discipline. As a result of the fast and exciting nature of Tae Kwon-Do there are thousands of children participating throughout the Ireland and millions worldwide.Children see Martial Arts training as the ultimate activity, in our classes everybody wins, it's not just who's the best gets to play. Our system of training is based on inner development and self-expression; concentration, focus, goal setting, self-achievement are the topics of discussion. Motor skill development, co-ordination, flexibility and self-awareness are the basics to the physical training.Children learn to reach their full potential through our confidence building martial arts program. Caring Instructors provide expert training in a fun and safe, although still disciplined environment, to produce positive results. The 2010 little warrior programme is designed for fun & learning and will include games to combat bullying and showing how sharing can help to make new friends, while including and generally making everyone feel involved in the learning process. The syllabus will include first aid tips , safety in the home and in the streets and will highlight the situations children find themselves facing every day. The new format will include handouts that will help the students practice at home and whether it be sit ups, press ups or blocks they will have the resources to give them that extra bit of encouragement. The students will participate in role playing acting out real life situations and this will help instill a feeling of confidence and reality should similar situations arise in real life. The leaflets handed out during the term will contain little snippets of useful information, explanations of techniques (Including Diagrams) helping them to understand more and act as a reference for the future. We will also cover the do's and don't's of every day life and the best course of action needed in certain situations, including quick reference phone no's, contacts etc.
